Today

Going over to Joe and Barb's for a goodbye picnic. Reality starting to set in! Any ideas on how to best transport the cat?
We gave up on the idea of trying to be back by 11:00am for the closing on Thursday (Really? They couldn't move it later in the day? REALLY???) so we're signing papers ahead of time. Therefore, there's no real reason we both have to come back when we take the truck down. Maybe one of us will stay down there with the cat, and the other will bring the kids. Otherwise, the cat will have to live at Granny's for a couple of days. That should be interesting...

The cat will disappear about 10 minutes before you need to shove him in a box and take off. Don will end up driving back to Sewickley to sit on the house porch in the rain, wearing a trash bag and running an electric can opener.

One of you should be at the closing if you possibly can, even after you both sign ahead of time. There were errors at mine - they left out my broker's commission and didn't give me the 1st-time buyer credit. It also gives you a chance to walk through the house -right- before you drive to the closing, so if the buyers call your realtor the next day yelling that the water heater is broken you know that it didn't happen until after title passed and it became their problem.

Good luck.

LOL!!! Blackbird. LOL!!! But seriously, I hope you don't have to do that with the cat. Put it in the cat taxi well in advance of putting it in the car!

House looks really nice Amy!
You'll be surprised how little space you can utilize when you have to! What an adventure. Best wishes and blessings coming your way. Lots of love! Jar & Cap

If you have the luxury, get a box big enough for the cat AND a litter box - even if the litterbox is a small, leftover cardboard box. If you can, feed him in the box every day for a week before you go - yummy tasty stuff- and no food outside the box. This makes trapping much easier. If you stop with the cat to empty the litter box, whatever you do, do it with the doors and windows closed until the cat is back in the box.

I also strongly recommend earplugs. Really.

Good luck!

No one mentioned a tranquilizer ( for the cat too)!

I agree with Lisa on the signing. Is there any way that you could have someone there in your stead to read over the agreement one last time?

As far as the cat...I was FIVE years old wasn't I?? It was an ACCIDENT!

I also think earplugs are a great idea even without the cat.

Our realtor will be there looking out for our interests. If we can still get back in time, we will. BUt it doesn't look likely. Can I give the cat vodka? We've got some of that we don't want to pack...

Don't pack it. I'm SURE you'll be ready for a drink before you're through.

I'm expecting daily updates throughout the next couple weeks.
